About Xavier Gomez
Hola, I’m a Sports & Exercise Nutritionist and Personal Trainer based in Norwich, and director of EMS Fitness Norwich, a boutique personal training gym. With over 15 years of experience in the sport, exercise, and health industry, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible people — from beginners taking their first steps to athletes chasing peak performance.
This journey has given me a deep understanding of how nutrition, exercise, and health work together to enhance performance and well-being. Sport and nutrition have always been my passion, and I’ve transformed that passion into my vocation: helping individuals of all abilities improve their training, daily life, and long-term health. My years of experience as a personal trainer have also given me a profound appreciation of the unique challenges my clients face and the critical role nutrition plays in recovery, performance, and sustainable progress.
I believe nutrition is more than calorie-counting and meal plans — it’s about building healthy habits, staying up-to-date with the latest science, and creating personalised strategies that work. My mission is to guide you with motivation, clarity, and a practical approach so you can achieve results that last.
From theory to practice, I live by the same advice I give my clients. As a hybrid athlete, competing in HYROX, DEKA, and other competitions, I depend upon nutrition to balance strength, endurance, and recovery. Following the same protocols I recommend for others keeps me learning, testing, and constantly improving for myself — so I can pass that knowledge on to the people I work with.
Ultimately, nothing is more rewarding than seeing someone achieve what they once felt to be impossible. My goal is simple: to help you fuel smarter, perform better, and build a healthier, stronger future.

Ethos //
I believe nutrition should be simple, practical, and empowering. It’s about maintaining a balanced approach (as a product of education), and developing habits that fit real life — turning science into strategies that last.
Xavi is helping me with a nutritional plan to complement my PT programme and I’m fitter, leaner and stronger than I have been in 15 years. I love the informal setting of the well equipped studio space, Xavi is friendly and welcoming and manages to get the best out of you without being overly pushy. The sessions are always different and we have a laugh too. I couldn’t recommend EMS more

I have been working with Xavier for 18 months after I had my baby. He helped me to regain core strength and changed my outlook to fitness, and introduced a mix of strength training and cardio. He is very encouraging and personalised the program to my needs on a weekly basis. Highly recommended!

Started with Xavi in August 2023, being moderately overweight and unhealthy. Xavi soon got me to work, giving me a workout plan, diet plan and a heap of motivation to get into shape.
Within 6 months, I had lost over 15kg, starting to slowly get into a better shape and feel better about myself.
Would definitely recommend Xavi!

What Does “Fuel for the Work Required” Actually Mean?
The Core Idea “Fuel for the work required” is a simple concept, but it sits at the foundation of effective sport and exercise nutrition. At its core, it means aligning your nutrition with the physiological demands you place on your body. Rather than eating the same way every day or following a rigid plan, this […]
Are You Actually Fuelling Your Body Enough?
Unlike cars, we don’t have a warning light that flashes when we’re running low on fuel. But make no mistake—your body will let you know. The problem is, most athletes either ignore the signs or don’t recognise them in the first place. Over time, under-fuelling doesn’t just affect performance. It impacts your health, recovery, and […]
The Truth About Supplements: What Actually Works (According to Science)
Walk into any supplement shop or scroll online and you’ll be hit with bold claims, flashy labels, and promises of rapid transformation. But here’s the reality: Only a small number of supplements are consistently backed by strong scientific evidence. And even more importantly… Most of what supplements provide can (and should) come from a well-structured […]
